FIDELITY Investments Platform Review

Fidelity Investments has a strong reputation for providing quality customer service. The firm received high marks in the client satisfaction survey ranking first among all full-service broker-dealers. Fidelity also earned top scores for its mobile app, website, account opening process and investment selection.

Commission and Fees

Commission Fees: $0 (stock / ETF), $0 plus $0.65/contract (options).

Requirements

A trader opening an account with Fidelity will not need a minimum fund amount. This will require the trader to complete an online registration form.

Active Trader Pro

This is the trading platform used by Fidelity traders. Features included with Active Trader Pro offer the trader market data that is streamed in real-time. The use of advanced charting is available and ability to make hypothetical trades to assess real-time profit and loss estimates. All the services that are provided to a trader can be done with one click of the mouse.

Mobile Applications

Users that are on the go can install their mobile application on their iPhone and iPad. This is an app that allows traders to easily view their portfolio and to make quick trades. One benefit a trader has using the application is news that is up to the minute, account history and monitoring of money.

Disadvantages

The website is not stable and can become slow on days with a high-volume of trades. Traders that have mutual funds they have purchased will carry a low balance fee of $12, if their balance falls under a level of $2,000. Trading tools available to traders do not have as many features as provided by competitor sites. However, the research that is available to a registered user is second to none.

How do we review brokers?

Our methodology: we take a systematic and in-depth approach when reviewing brokers. Our methodology is designed to provide readers with the most comprehensive and accurate picture of what a broker is really like. First, we take an in-depth look at the broker's website and mobile app, and compare its features against other leading brokers. This helps us get a feel for what the broker is offering and how it stacks up against its competitors. We also make sure to test out all of the broker's features, from its charting tools to its customer service. This gives us a first-hand look at what the broker is really like to use. Next, we evaluate a broker's customer service. This includes things like how easy it is to get in touch with customer service, how responsive they are, and what kind of support they offer. Finally, we take a close look at the fees associated with using the broker. This includes both commissions and hidden fees that can eat into your profits.
